Blue Angels and Blue Water

Saw my first angel this weekend. The Blue Angels that is! haha Here are some videos and pictures from the airshow I saw this weekend in Grand Junction, Colorado.
It was amazing. I've always had a kind of awe and love for fighter jets (something I think I get from my momma) but this weekend was the first time I've really seen what they can do! And oh man, it was "so cool" haha you will hear my continual expression of this in the videos below.

The airshow was Friday night and Saturday day. So Sunday I went to the Potholes up on the Monument and went cliff jumping :) I love the hidden spots in CO that are so pretty and natural.

This coming Friday I am excited to tell you I will be going on a rock climbing/hiking trip at Via-Ferrata! I am so stoked because not only is spending a weekend in the God's wilderness glorious but almost all my friends here at Mesa are coming too! On top of that we will be celebrating Michaela's and Kendra's Birthdays this week!!! PLUS it's homecoming week here at CMU so there are awesome activities and dances all week long. Needless to say I'm pretty excited :) HAPPY TUESDAY!

Campfire Hotdogs and S'mores

First off, can I just show you how pretty Colorado is? While there's no comparing to Oregon, I think I live in a pretty awesome place.

So this weekend we drove our way to the back country of Grand Junction.

And in attempts to miss parents weekend on campus we camped Saturday night. Woke up early Saturday morning and got to camp around... idk maybe tenish. But the time we arrived isn't the important part. The important part was how much fun we had when we got up there! I have to say there isn't a whole lot that I love more than sitting around a campfire with friends, exploring reservoirs and going on dirt bike rides!

I wish I would've gotten a picture of that but I seriously had the most fun this weekend just chilling and riding on dirt bikes with Max and Jeremy:) Made me miss going on rides with my daddy.
Here are some pics from the weekend!

Safeway Shopping/ My Mesa Family

Yep, went and got some groceries. It may be hard to believe but the food in the caf is getting pretty old.
Anyway been pretty busy this week, just keeping up in classes, doing boring stuff like homework and stuff. But somehow, Kendra, Kenzie, and Michaela always find a way to make even the boring stuff fun :) I kinda love my friends... Queso!

hahah Anyway... It's parents weekend here and since my parents can't make it out :( a group of us are going to go camping at the Monument. I'm stoked it should be a blast:) So i will definitely be posting some pictures post trip. Pray that it all goes well and no one gets hurt! But before I leave I might add I am VERY excited to be meeting Kendra and Michaels parents! I feel like I am being adopted into multiple families in the mid west. And I truthfully don't mind :) While there will never be a family like mine back home...
"Here, at mesa, we have to make our own family, our core people to lean on. I already consider you girls a part of that family... I am so glad I met you and that I have had a chance to become so close with you in such a short amount of time... And although we haven't known each other long at all I feel like it has been a lifetime, and I want you to know I am always here for you: to listen, to laugh, to talk with, to cry with and for anything else you need. You girls are my support system, my sisters, and I don't know what I would do in college without you. All four of us are here for each other and want to help in whatever way we can. God blessed us with each other and we should take advantage of that:) I love you guys and am here for you always" - Kendra Wildenberg <3

So I guess this blog goes out to my amazing family, my brothers and sisters here at mesa. I love you all and feel so blessed to have found such strong children of God to help me and be there for me through this journey we are taking together.

No Dining Hall for me This Weekend

What did my Sunday look like?? ohhhh.... something like THIS
:)
Went boating this weekend! Yeah, it was quite an eventful weekend with shooting, and boating. Like I've said a hundred times on this blog, I REALLY like Colorado :) We woke up Sunday morning and headed out to Highline Lake, we were probably on the lake around 12ish. Started off wakeboarding a bit.. then some of the guys decided to try tandem with a wakeboard and ski.
It was pretty impressive haha
Stopped for a while to do some swimming and then tubed! It was a BLAST, but needless to say I am definitely feeling it today. The water was pretty choppy and I took some not-so-graceful wipe outs on the wakeboard. Not to mention boating with guys is probably one of my favorite things because they aren't afraid to go fast and fight to the death haha (ok well maybe not quite so dramatic). Anyway I was still able to get home and do some major studying for my Anatomy test which I took today around 2 (fingers crossed)! Here's a couple more pics I snapped during the trip. Sorry about the quality, I may be adding a camera to my birthday wish list because of all these photos I've been taking! Happy Monday!

(Disclaimer: not all pictures are of me haha obviously)

Smoothie for Breakfast, Pigeons for Lunch?

Woke up today, had about 4 cups of coffee and went to town on my studying for my Anatomy Lecture Test in Monday (please keep it in your prayers) haha
Anyway, after I successfully got so much done, we decided to kill some time today and go shooting our in the desert! (Don't worry parents, adults with hunting licenses were present)
It was a BLAST! And it definitely brought back memories from when my daddy took me hunting with him.
And I must say the girls did a decent job and keeping up with being on target with the boys (well for the most part)
We started off just shooting at some targets then moved up to some pigeons. Which took me a couple tries to get the hang of shooting in front of it. But once I figured it out, I was getting a few in a row and loved it! haha The girls even said I should quit going to college for a nursing degree and be a female cop instead. While I don't think that will happen it was still a blast going out there and thinking of my daddy the whole time. Wish you could've been there dad, you would've been so proud! haha When i get back to Oregon we are gonna go shooting!
After we finished shooting (or ran out of ammo) we took the truck on some four-wheeling adventures though the dirt, rock and sand. Definitely a blast! Happy Saturday!!

Post Hike Protein Shake

What did I do on the gorgeous morning of Tuesday, September 4th? I went on another hike!
This is the gorgeous view about half way up Liberty Cap. My friend Jaden and I woke up early (ok early for me) Tuesday and hiked up this mesa on another pretty day in Grand Junction, CO. Got to the top around... 10ish and decided to do some cavern exploring. Walked around the top and found this crack that opened up into a really neat natural made dome. We rock climbed our way out of it and I made it back in time for my Anatomy class.
I love how much there is to do in Colorado. It's an outdoor girls paradise! <3

The Best of Boogies in Aspen, CO

This weekend was the beginning of a new month. Happy September! Can't believe I've already been in school for two weeks. Can't describe enough how much I love Colorado. This is really my home away from home, although I don't get to see those Oregon mountains, I get the Colorado Mesa's

And this weekend I got to see some of Aspen's beautiful scenery...

Pretty right? Me and a group of people including, Kenzie, Sarah, Rae, Casey, Kate, and a bunch of others drove two cars through the Aspen forests..

To go cliff jumping at the Devil's PunchBowl! (Once I find the pictures of me actually jumping off I'll put them up, but this was the place)
Casey ^
I believe it's a 40-50 ft drop. I stepped off the cliff, so excited for the jump.. then as soon as I hit the water my body was in shock! haha The water was so COLD, that when Kenzie yelled at me to see if I was ok I could say anything back as I doggie paddled to the side hahah. Once my body thawed (which was almost as soon as I stepped out of the water) I was so glad I did it. Cliff jumping is such a thrill, and doing it in such a beautiful place was awesome:) The nature-made smooth rocks and waterfalls are almost as breathtaking as I was when I jumped into the water.

Once we spent some time jumping in and taking in the falls, we drove our way back into Aspen for some lunch. Passing the ski runs that you could see from main street..

We parked and walked our way to Boogies for Linner (meal between Lunch and Dinner).

Boogies, in case you didn't know is that spot where celebrities back in the day would stop by. They have pictures all over the walls of all the celebs (including Elvis) who's stopped in and had a meal there. For our meal Kenzie and I decided to take a risk and split the Mountain Man Burger,

A combination of Elk, Venison, Bison,Antelope, and Boar! And let me tell you.. it was good!
After dinner we walked around Aspen for a little bit...

We went back to the car and made our way to the Hot Springs of Glenwood! The natural Hot Springs flow from the Yampah spring. It has a daily flow of 3,500,000 gallons of water, at approximately 122° F/ 51° C. The source for the Yampah spring is south of the Colorado River in the Lookout Mountain and Grand Hogback areas. The water percolates through fractures in the bedrock formation into the Leadville aquifer. As this occurs, the water is heated by the geothermal gradient in the area. Going to the springs usually costs about $16 per person but because of all my local friends we went to the "local" spot, where the springs connect with the Colorado River and it's free! Which is awesome for a poor college student.

Then we came home Saturday night, and woke up Sunday morning.. went to a church called "The Vineyard" with a group of people we had met the night before and ate lunch together afterwards! Another successful weekend in Colorado! :)

Verse of the Day : Nehemiah 9:6 "You alone are the LORD. You made the heavens, even the highest heavens, and all their starry host, the earth and all that is on it, the seas and all that is in them. You give life to everything, and the multitudes of heaven worship you."
